The project will also to develop further and build stronger communities by:
- providing accessibility to services for everyone in West Somerset
- increasing participation in community life
- promoting community cohesion
- increasing the use of village halls / community halls / community buildings, schools and school facilities
- encouraging communities to contribute to solving local problems with the help of the appropriate agencies
What is it?
Health Walks 4 Living - Offering a comprehensive coverage of health walks in West Somerset
- Helping more people in the community to become more active, more often.
- To help establish a variety of sustainable activity classes for adults and families across West Somerset.
- To help ensure there are sufficient appropriately qualified instructors to deliver a variety of activities to meet potential demand.
- To help publicise and recruit participants to increase sustainability
- Training and supporting volunteers who can in turn support the ‘ Living Well’ projects as well as others in the community.
- To establish a bank of volunteers for the Living Well Programme
- To provide training and ongoing support to the volunteers
- To find volunteering opportunities that suit individual volunteer’s needs
- To increase the well being of those volunteering as well as those receiving the volunteers support.
- Providing vulnerable adults with the skills and opportunity to grow their own produce by providing a training allotment and skills training
- To work in partnership with the new Skills and Enterprise Centre and Rural Landbase Centre at West Somerset Community College to provide a training allotment for participants as well as tuition in horticulture skills.

The project is aimed to help benefit people aged 45 + (particularly those who currently have sedentary lifestyles). People with low level mental health problems as well as families.
Where does it take place?
The project is based at West Somerset Leisure Centre in Minehead but supports communities and activities in many of the local rural areas in and around Minehead i.e. Watchet, Williton, Dulverton and Exmoor
