Mental Health for All
For All Healthy Living Centre, Weston super Mare
We are a not for profit organisation which aims to sustain and develop the wellbeing of people in South Ward, Weston-super-Mare, and to demonstrate the value of working in partnership with the local community.
Our ‘For All Healthy Living Centre’ opened three years ago. Within the centre are a GP surgery, Community Hall and cafe, a combined Anglican - Methodist Church, a Children’s Centre, a local authority information point and library as well as meeting and training spaces.
We seek to “work with the community through information, consultation, involvement, shared management and advocacy”. Our Community have a strong sense of ownership of the Centre and support its continued growth.
As a not for profit organisation we are building our identity as a social enterprise. We seek to provide a “social, economic and environmental dividend”.We are committed to developing local capacity and to re-investing in the local economy and local services.
As part of a consortium of Healthy Living Centres in the South West we have been successful in receiving a grant form the BIG Lottery Fund to run a 3 year project entitled “Mental Health For All”. This project seeks to increase the range of early interventions for people who are experiencing such issues as depression, anxiety and low mood. At the same time it is hoped that the project will also work to develop a greater understanding and acceptance of mental health issues in the community.
Our intention is to set up a project that has a sustainable future so that at the end of 3 years there will be a continuation of the services offered and opportunities created to support the well being to local people.
Three main complimentary approaches have been identified to achieve these aims:
- Supporting people experiencing low level mental health issues through offering a range of one to one and group activities and signposting to existing opportunities in the community
- Working with the community to improve the understanding and acceptance of people experiencing mental health issues
- Influencing, co-ordinating and advocating for better mental health services in the area
What is it?
Recreational and social activities such as arts and craft workshops
- Time limited one to one support for anyone who would benefit from the opportunity to talk through any difficulties they are experiencing and consider the options available to them
- One to one support to anyone wanting to make any changes in their lifestyle such as giving up smoking, eating a healthier diet or increasing their level of physical activity
- Support for anyone who would like to volunteer within the centre
- Advice and signposting to other services in the area
- Courses that will build confidence and improve quality of life such as stress management and assertiveness technique
Who can join in?
We are a project which has been funded by the Big Lottery to provide support and activities for anyone experiencing low level mental health problems. Anyone who would benefit from the service can be referred and we also welcome self referrals in person or by telephone.

We are available at the For All Healthy Living Centre Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm. We have activities running on different days throughout the week
