About the programme
The South West Wellbeing Programme is led by Westbank Healthy Living Centre in Exminster, Devon. £3.9 million of Big Lottery funds are enabling activities that help improve mental health, increase physical activity and promote healthier eating.
The programme aims to improve the well-being of 20,000 people across the region, through a range of innovative and exciting services. This first and second year has been a noted success and the programme is set to build on good practice even further for the third and final year of BIG Lottery funding.
With 15 partners placed in Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth, Dorset Somerset and Gloucester at least 18,000 people have already made improvements to their well-being since the programme started in February 2008 .
Westbank and the partners to this programme are committed to sharing good practice. Through case studies and meaningful evaluation supported by the University of the West of England, evidence of effectiveness will become available and will form the basis for continued services in the future.
