Be Healthy, Be Happy
Gloucestershire Healthy Living Alliance
Be Happy, Be Healthy Gloucestershire is being delivered by Gloucestershire Healthy Living Alliance – on behalf of: Gloucester City Council, Stroud District Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council, Cheltenham Borough Council, Cotswold District Council and Forest of Dean District Council. Programmes being run under Well-being will include:
- Community based exercise and physical activity sessions
- Sheltered housing physical activity sessions
- Health Workshops
- Developing new health walks and cycle routes
- One stop shop health drop ins
- Green Gym / Community Garden / allotment programme
Well-being will directly support the development of new activities. Delivery will take place in community settings such as sheltered housing
What is it?
Be Healthy, Be Happy Gloucestershire will enable people to make healthier choices. We will encourage integration of cultural diversity within the communities through consultation with ethnic and religious groups. Where? The project operates in the following locations: Gloucester City Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council, Stroud District Council, Cotswold District Council, Cheltenham Borough Council, Forest of Dean District Council..
Activities include:
- Community based exercise and physical activity sessions
- Sheltered housing physical activity sessions
- Health workshops
- Developing new health walks and cycle routes
- Walking for Health and family cycle Festivals
- One stop shop health drop-ins
- Green Gym/Community Garden/allotment programme
Who can join in?
the project particularly targets:
- People over the age of 45 with sedentary lifestyles
- Children under the age of 16 who have ‘opted’ out of physical activity
- People who experience poor health or particular medical condition i.e. obesity, high blood pressure, arthritis and mental health
- BME populations
- Individuals and families from deprived communities
- Immigrant/migrant population
- People at risk of developing a chronic/long term illness associated with a sedentary lifestyle
